Here at Mahin Yoga, we believe a complete practice not only encompasses time on the mat but also applying yoga principles to our daily lives. That is, to be present, exercise mindfulness and demonstrate compassion. So with every mat purchased, you will be making a contribution to Mandalao Elephant Conservation whose aim is to preserve and protect both captive elephants and those who remain in the wild. Together we can practise on the mat but also, practise with impact. Known as the "Land of a Million Elephants" many tourists flock to parts of South East Asian to get up and close to these gentle giants. Locals cater to these visitors by offering tours and attractions centred around these animals; from feeding experiences to thrilling elephant rides. Unfortunately, these creatures are often held in captivity and abused behind the scenes. Mandalao Elephant Conservation makes it their mission to buck this trend. Rescuing captive elephants is one way they achieve this but more importantly, they help tourists connect with elephants in the most natural way possible. Through responsible tourism, education and sustainable relationships with the local community, they hope to shift the this industry to become more humane and ethical.
